Frequently asked questions
Is Inlay really free?
Yes. The full game is free, with no ads and nothing locked behind a paywall. On iPhone and iPad there are optional “tips” if you’d like to support development — but they’re never required and never expected. The Android version doesn’t have them at all.
What are the tips in the menu? (iPhone and iPad)
Tips are small, optional in-app purchases (Kind, Generous, and Amazing) that simply say thank you and help keep the game growing. They don’t unlock levels, remove anything, or change how the game plays — the entire game is already yours for free.
Inlay on Android has no tips and no billing software in it at all, so you won’t find this in the Android menu.
I left a tip — can I get a receipt or a refund?
On iPhone and iPad, all purchases are handled securely by Apple. Your receipt comes from Apple by email, and any refund requests are managed through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something looks wrong, email us and we’ll help however we can.
How do I restart a game, or change the sound?
Tap the menu button — the three lines in the top-right corner. From there you can toggle the music, sound effects, and haptics independently, start a new game, or — on iPhone and iPad — leave a tip. On Android, playing in landscape also lets you swap the board and tray for left-handed play.
Is my score saved? Does it sync between devices?
Yes. Your best score and your game in progress are both saved locally, so you can close Inlay and pick up right where you left off. Nothing syncs across devices, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Do I need an internet connection to play?
No. Inlay plays completely offline. On iPhone and iPad, a connection is only ever used by Apple if you choose to leave a tip.
The Android version goes further: it has no internet permission at all, so it cannot reach the network even if it wanted to.
Which devices are supported?
Inlay runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, and on Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later. It’s designed to look great on all of them, in portrait or landscape.
